Conclusion
Sustainable buildings are naturally different from the conventional buildings. Sustainability are not only about the efficiency or functionality of the building but the whole life-cycle of them are eco-friendly and will not contribute for climate changes as well as environmental issues. The entire processes from choosing the site, material used, structure design until construction of the building, building practices and so on, it needs to find the balance between high performance and low impact of environment. The traditional building in Malaysia, for instance Malay house and Baba Nyonya shophouse, both of them are using sustainable material such as clay stone, palm fronds, timber, bamboo and so on which are natural and locally available. The structure design of the traditional building with the used of sustainable materials are able to adapt the tropical climate in Malaysia.
